Fundraising Idea Spotlight - Sidewalk Chalk Art Show
Do you want to bring in some great donations, but also some
terrific publicity? Well, you will surely get both when you
hold an area wide Sidewalk Chalk Art Show.
This is a novel approach to raising money that will make your
group the talk of the town.
To get the best response to your efforts you must put on your
art show in a high trafficked area. Allow plenty of room to
draw sketches on sidewalks and parking lots.
You will want to offer different art work designs and charge
different prices for each. That way everybody can get their
own art work. Offer to draw someone's name in a special font
with dynamic colors for 50 cents to $1.00. It adds up quickly.
And don't forget a Polaroid picture of their artwork. Charge
a little extra for taking a picture of their purchased artwork
so that they can keep it and show others.
Are you a part of a large company or professional association?
Ask if you can do a fundraiser for your organization in a
special Grand Chili Cook Off contest at your place of work.
Sign up other association members or fellow employees as
cooks. Try to get at least a dozen and plan this around
lunchtime. A lunchtime fundraiser will not take up precious
work time, but will make work a little more pleasurable.
Gather a panel of judges to come up with a few blue ribbon
awards like "Hottest Chili", "Most Bizarre", "Best Tasting"
and others. Be sure to charge association members or
employees for attending the Grand Chili Cook Off and make
several hundred dollars for your group.
Be sure to have a tip jar also if you plan to serve people
and make even more money. Have on hand several desserts
that you can charge and extra $1.50 if they wish. Have fun,
offer door prizes, keep some antacids handy and make lots
of money.
Mother's Day and Secretary's Day is are just two special days
that you can sell Chocolate Roses. Actually, anytime
would be a good time for these delicous treats.
They come on a stem and wrapped in a sparkling foil wrap and
ribbon presenting a really classy look that sells for $1.00.
These are quick low-cost sellers, so don't expect to make tens
of thousands, unless you have area stores sell them for you.
You most probably will make hundreds or thousands of dollars
in a very receptive market of chocolate lovers.
Book Review - Fundraising for Youth : Hundreds of
Wonderful Ways of Raising Funds for Youth Organizations
Author Dorothy M. Ross gives 256 pages full of fundraising
ideas for your youth group. Most of the suggestions have been
around for ages, but it's good to have many in one place to
refer to at your next committee meeting as you decide on your
ideal fundraiser.
You'll find craft fundraisers, car washes, yard work, garage
sales, hamburger suppers, and many more fundraisers that will
give you plenty of ideas. It is somewhat slanted toward
church type youth groups.
At under $10, it is a good inexpensive resource of ideas to
get you thinking about what fundraiser will work with your
group. I give it a 3.5 (on a scale of 5).
