Fundraising Idea Spotlight - Directory Distribution


There is certainly money in distributing anything. Whether it
be newspapers, magazine subscriptions or selling Program
Guides; there's money to be made with distribution of products.

For this fundraiser you will need to supply a lot of manpower
that you can depend on. That's why this works out so well for
groups with large memberships to do some real leg work once in
a "blue moon".

Start by contacting the following: Colleges needing people to
pass out their football programs at games, Yellow Page
companies that will need a delivery force to get their books
out, advertising agencies that pass out flyers on various
products, shopping malls that have special promotions,
politicians that need people to pass out flyers and cards,
and Chambers of Commerce that have special events or items
to announce through a special packet delivered to homes in
your area.

I think you get the picture. Contact as many of these groups
as possible and let them know that you will do the leg work to
get their information into the hands of the public with
personal delivery.

Agree to distribute their flyers or info at around 32 cents
or less per piece -- this is cheaper than what the Postal
Service can deliver them for and people identify with the
vigor of a group that is out promoting good things in their
community.

Product Focus - Two Year Planners

Software Product Focus - Fast Fund Accounting


I've found that one of the hardest jobs for any nonprofit is
the accounting of their money. Where is it coming from...
where is it going....who do you pay your bills to...and then
how to keep it all straight in one place.

Here is a software product that will really help you out.
It's called FastFund Accounting. I've presented to you before
about FastFund's Fundraising software program and briefly
mentioned how it integrates with their compatible accounting
software program. But now, let's focus on the accounting
side of your nonprofit solution.

I can't tell you the number of times that I've talked to
people that have numerous databases and software programs
that seem to add more frustration to their efforts. Yes,
FastFund's Accounting package does cost more than Quicken
or Microsoft Money, but those programs and many like them
aren't geared to solving problems for nonprofit organizations.

Book Review - Event Planning

Judy Allen has put together a great resource for all of you
folks planning on putting on a successful dinner, gala or
other special event. I think you will notice that I used the
word "successful".

You will want to use this book as a resource if you want to
pull off a successful function. It has info on preparing
budgets, selecting the themes and decorations, coordinating
the media, how to maintain a staff of volunteers, and what
types of food you should consider.

It's more heavily geared toward medium sized to larger
organizations so I will have to give it a 4.0 (on a scale
of 5). Even so, smaller groups will benefit tremendously
from the ideas placed before them.
