Fundraising Idea Spotlight - Mint Your Own Coins
Generate a brilliant proof coin fundraiser by creating your
own coins. This is one of those common ways of raising funds
for organizations like museums, exhibits, commemorative events
and anniversary exhibits.
However, more and more groups outside of these general areas
are creating coins and selling them for a mint. Perhaps,
the only draw back is that you must have some money up front
to pay for the minting and set up charges if any.
Promote your coins as a "collectors edition" and you will most
likely double your response rate. Make announcements in your
newsletter, newspaper article or rent a list and do a mass
mailing to your community.
The other critical issue is to have a dynamic design. Ask
area art departments or design firms to conduct a contest for
choosing the best design. Offer a small fee of $200 for the
best design.
A very good design will get an interested buyer to buy extra
collectible coins for grandchildren, business associates,
and family members as well.
Resources - Fee Based Telephone And Contact
Searches
I've found a few resources for you if you are interested in
finding more information about your prospects other than the
free search resources found in the last newsletter.
You will have to pay for these, but they give you a wider
range to obtain lists and generate mass list corrections.
Check them out below.
Can you accept checks on your nonprofit organization's
website? What about accepting credit cards?
There are more than 4,000 merchants that have tried
GoEmerchant.com, which enables people to launch online
store fronts, said A. James Battista, president and co-founder
of EVS Holding Co. Inc., the company behind the service.
They have a Payment Gateway that includes a Virtual Terminal
and Merchant Account. It also has a preloaded Cyber Circular
and a Cyber Circular Creator allows you to build an e-mail
with your own customized sales message. This e-mail can be
automatically sent to your list of customers.
This package includes a Buy_Me~ Button that allows those who
receive the Cyber Circular to purchase the product or service
offered by you directly from your e-mail! This can be great
for small nonprofits or ministries that sell books or tapes
as a part of their fundraising efforts.
GoEmerchant.com also allows acceptance of checks for a low
monthly fee of $9.95 and a transaction fee of just $0.50 per
transaction which is deducted at the time of the transaction.
You can then have funds transferred automatically through
the ACH to your organization's checking account.
For small nonprofits needing an electronic merchant account,
I found that there is no start-up fee, and it did not require
the abilities of a computer programmer to set it up. This is
a great complement for those auctioning off items at e-bay or
other similar services.
Book Review - Ask And You Shall Receive (Leader's
Guide)
Author Kim Klein has put together a book for ministries that
is a little different than traditional fundraising helps
books.
This book is geared toward Faith-Based charities and religious
groups. It combines the fundraising and religious terminology
to bring you a concise read.
This is
a fundraising course
that you can take to your group
and train them on the value and processes of
fundraising.
You will not have to reinvent the wheel once you've read this
fantastic guide to strengthening your fundraising efforts.
As I read this, I found that even non-religious or faith
oriented individuals stood much to gain by reading this
guide. It perfectly lays out the time for each segment of
your presentation. It even comes complete with stories that
will keep your attendees attention.
You stand to gain much insight and more importantly a
tremendous time savings by getting this leader's handbook.
