Fundraising Idea Spotlight - Raffle It Off

A raffle is one of the easiest fundraisers to initiate. It also
requires less volunteer hours to plan and conduct than any
other event or fundraiser.

Although there is some risk for larger ticket items, raffling
smaller items practically guarantees a profit of many times
more than what the item costs that you are raffling off.

For a successful Raffle, you need to consider two things:

1. The item (or up to 3 items -- 1st, 2nd, 3rd place) should
be a new, unique and hard to find item like a rare collectible
or limited edition. One of a kind items sell best. The idea
is that you can't buy it at the local shopping mall.

2. Consider your market of possible donors. You would
not offer expensive camping equipment to a market that is
mostly made up of senior citizens. Would you offer fine art
where there are mostly low-income housing? Probably not.
You must offer something that will attract people with a
desire to take the chance to win that very special item.

Remember, the more expensive and attractive the item is, the
more people will buy a chance to secure it. Also, your members
must have a clear dedication in selling as many tickets as
possible. By keeping these key points in mind, you should be
well on your way to operating a fantastic Raffle fundraiser.

Product Focus - Recording Your Own Music: That Money
Jingle Sure Sounds Good.

Are you a member of a band, choir, music ministry, or quartet?
Have you ever thought about producing your own music? How
about making your own music and selling it too?

Well, here's your chance, because I found a company that will
keep production costs low so that your group can sell your
finished music CD's to the public for a profit of up to 50%
depending on the amount ordered.

Most people think that you must go to Nashville or New York
to record your music, but not with Music And Sound Company.
they can ship you their portable high-quality recording
equipment to complete the task. Once finished, they will
do the rest to bring you a top-notch recording of your group.

My suggestion would be to take orders before you record so
that you can plan for the amount needed. This company can
produce as little as 100 CD's for you.

Get into full production with Music And Sound.

Free Tip -- IRS Contributions Rules: What You Should Know.

Have you ever wondered if you are following all of the tax
rules when you give your donors their donation receipt?

Example
Your organization hosts a banquet for a donation of $25 per
seat. The dinner costs $10. What is the allowable
deduction for the donor and what amount should you have on
your receipt that you issue to them?

Since your donor will not know what the dinner costs or any
other benefits they receive, you will have to specify for
them what is the allowable donation deduction. Find out how
to figure your donor receipts at the IRS Contributions
section.

Book Review -- Secrets of Motivation: How to GET and Keep
Volunteers & Staff

Here is a good book that all nonprofit groups -- small or large
-- should consider. Author Sue Vineyard is well known in the
volunteer motivation and management field, so you will
appreciate her insight.

She points out that a healthy volunteer network will provide
for a dynamic volunteer organization and will impact your
mission and objectives much more effectively.

This book explores the secrets of motivation. You'll also find
out how to better approach, recruit and retain your volunteers.
You will probably be surprised by the depth of discussion and
will clearly recognize common-sense methods that you may
have overlooked or forgotten.

I would recommend this book as a 4 (out of a high 5 rating) and
one that will definitely jumpstart a dead volunteer battery.
