From The Editor

Hi [[name]].

I believe Spring is here for most of us. You may have noticed at our website that we're wrapping up our "Spring Cleaning" project.

That's right, we've got a new face lift and I personally think it is much easier for you to read and enjoy. We have a little bit calmer color scheme too.

Along with the new image, we've added some new products. If you haven't been to the Profit Quests Fundraising Products section for awhile, then by all means take another spin around.

If you'd be so kind to let us know if you stumble on any broken links or nonfunctioning areas, I would be very appreciative and it will make the site more of a pleasurable experience for all.

Your fundraising tipster, Jesse Carter, Editor

Glow-In-The-Dark T-shirts

This fundraiser is going like hotcakes. So I had to bring it to your attention. It's Glow-In-The-Dark T-shirts.

These T-shirts are great for scout groups and scout camps, nighttime relay for life events, nighttime golf events, soccer teams, bowling leagues, church summer camp participants, concession stand workers, booster clubs, Mom-N-Me outings, marathons, cheerleaders at night games, spirit teams, walkathons and more.

These shirts are of the highest quality in white 100% cotton using top name brands. The designs use unique Glow-In-The-Dark technology that are not the normal "green glow" paint you've seen in the past.

Groups receive a quick turnaround after ordering. Give us your design and we’ll have your order to you within 2 weeks time. There is also free shipping of your T-shirts to you.

Send us a sketch showing your own shirt design with your groups name, logo or likeness. Our artist will design your shirt for you. Artist fees are included in the one time set up fee.

Many groups are using these as incentives for walkathon gifts or are selling them for $15 to $20 making $5 to $10 each on them. The shirts have also brought in a lot of great PR when introduced at a night event.

And I have a deal for you too. I'm giving an extra $1 off each shirt when your group orders during the next two months. Just ask us for the $1.00 Off Newsletter Special.

Start by visiting our information page on Glow In The Dark Tshirts.

Fundraising Tip

The Melting Candy Issue

Most everyone loves chocolates and there are a lot of fundraising products that have chocolate in them. Remember, chocolate candies often melt when they get near heat.

Be careful when temperatures begin to rise near 80 degrees F. It may then become difficult to have chocolate shipped to you without some melting. So you might want to avoid selling chocolate products after late Spring.

Some fundraising companies offer special shipping for their chocolate products which will circumvent the melting issue (e.g. Using Dry Ice). Find out from them if it is worth the effort. Otherwise, wait until the fall to start your next chocolate product fundraiser.

Fundraising Article

A Board Member's Responsibility

Show me the money! Tom Cruise would say in a fairly recent popular movie.

Well in a nutshell that's the main job description of a board member. Actually, it might really be "go get the money."

I've dealt with many Board Of Directors and have found that the strongest ones are those whose members actually spend most of their time on their board by personally asking for money, gifts, or gifts-in-kind.

They are constantly selling and promoting their charity to those that can help fund their nonprofit.

Occassionally I'll have someone tell me that their time is more valuable than the money they give. Along with this bit of enlightenment I'm further told that they don't feel comfortable asking someone for money. These well-meaning folks should have never been asked to be on the board.

Certainly, reports from the nonprofit sector show that there is a trend of younger supporters that feel this way. Many will have great ideas and will certainly volunteer their time, but are reluctant to ask for money. Unfortunately, their volunteer time and ideas combined will not keep the doors open for the charity unless someone asks a donor to show me the money.

I've written an article on the responsibilities of a board member seen here. I hope you get some insight from it.
