From The Editor
Hi [[name]].
Well, it's officially Fall. That means football, cheerleading, spirit
squads, flag corps, band and all sorts of school booster clubs and
student groups shining before the public eye.
It's a time when groups all across the country show their "school spirit"
too. Many groups make promoting their school spirit synonymous with raising
money for their group.
Of course, without those needed funds to pick up the tab for uniforms,
trips and special projects, the school spirit would definitely be lacking.
So when choosing a fundraiser this fall for your school group, make sure
that it includes giving your school some good PR (or school spirit) in
the community too. We've talked about the silicone wristbands in the
last issue as a way to bring great attention to your efforts and raise
money.
I will pass on to you some strategies from groups that are raising
awareness, school spirit and raising some fantastic funds all at the
same time.
Go get some school spirit today.

Get Your Name On A Discount Card

Gas Discount Cards
What's all of the buzz about around town. I believe it must be the price
of gasoline constantly going up. We all need a gas discount card to
help lower the price we're paying at the pump.
The Gas Discount Card is a WIN-WIN situation for both the Cardholder and
Merchant. And your group will benefit immensely. Cardholders get
guaranteed discounts on gas (usually 5-7 cents per gallon). Merchants
get new gas customers & increased sales of items such as cold drinks,
coffee, food items, etc..
We do all the leg work for you. We print no cards UNTIL we have the
authorization of participating local merchants - IN WRITING! None of the
old "printing the card & then hoping merchants will honor the cards"
routine.
Cards Sell for $10, your organization earns $5 or more per card. The more
you order upfront, the more you will receive free cards as a bonus. You
also pay nothing until we secure the merchant and we're ready to print
your cards.
To get started, print the Gas Discount Card Agreement and fax back to
888-996-3863. This will alert us that you are serious about this
fundraiser and we will begin lining up a convenience store chain that
will allow your group to be on the card with them.
Pump some funds into your group with the Gas Discount Card today.

Marketing Silicone Wristbands
Silicone Wristbands Are Taking The World By Storm
Let's talk about the silicone wristbands that we discussed during the
last newsletter.
Everywhere you go, you can see people supporting their favority charity
or cause with silicone wristbands. The key in promoting your group
is how to do it while raising funds at the same time.
First, always ask for a donation when giving someone a wristband. Many
people want to make a donation and will most likely approach you when
they see that you are offering wristbands.
One church group recently told me how they were raising funds in their
community for a young person with cancer. The wristbands cost them $1.00
each, but they asked for a donation of at least $5.00 or more. By
asking for a donation instead of "selling" them, they frequently received
$5, $10, $20 or more per donor. What's more, everyone around town was
wearing them, even 80 year old women. This attracted even more attention
for their cause and they raised thousands more.
A school group will likely "sell" the wristbands as a school spirit
fundraiser. Schools usually have two school colors and will order two
different wristband colors with their school name or short phrase printed
on it. School groups will sell one wristband for $3 or two for $5.
Students and supporters will want both school colors so the $5
combination sells quickly. They raise thousands of dollars even with a
small wristband order. One recent school customer told us that they sold
out in 2 days and many of their supporters were disappointed that they
did not get to buy theirs. Needless to say, they placed another order
for more.
These are just a few ways to promote your charity or school spirit with
silicone wristbands. They make it easy to promote your group and raise
funds too.

Software That Tracks Your "Thon" Fundraiser
Want to take your walkathon, marathon, or "thon" event to the next
level?
Kintera, one of the world's best known software companies, has an
online module designed to help manage your next event more
effectively. It engages your participants and the public better and
helps you raise more money at your Thon event. We feel it's more
effective than traditional methods only using direct contact, telephone
calls, or mailouts.
If you are conducting your first "Thon", then you will want to use
Kintera's Special Events module to make your first year a success.
We have even seen the power of Kintera's Friends Asking Friends online
program to help groups reach beyond local boundaries to a national
or even world scope.
Here's the old way of raising funds without Kintera...
Your supporter "John" calls from a list of names you've given him.
Out of that list of 10, he vaguely knows two people. You send an
introductory letter to all. He calls and only reaches 5 people
who want to think about their involvement more. Finally, after
dozens of calls and hours of work, John gets a small number of pledges
...good.
Here's the new way of raising funds with Kintera...
Your supporter "John" is set up as a "Friend" in your Kintera Friends
Asking Friends campaign. He sends the pre-loaded email message to all
of his friends plus a list of past donors if you have it. He saves
time and sends the messages at his leasure. He gets a response from
most of his friends -- perhaps as much as a 50% response...BETTER!
Do your group a favor and use Kintera Special Events module for your next thon event.

Fall Is A Time For Chocolate
Chocolate Candy Bars are one of my favorite candies. In fact, most
things chocolate are my favorite, but chocolate candy ranks #1 with
me. It does with most people too.
We've lined up some great chocolate candy products for your review.
Keep in mind that chocolate candy are "direct sale" fundraisers and
you will need to have your product available for immediate sale to
your supporters.
Catalog or order forms just don't work with this type of fundraiser,
so you must have your candy ready when initiating your kick-off.
Fall is also a perfect time to sell chocolate candy since it should
be shipped in temperatures of 75 degrees F or less.
Chocolate candies are very fast selling fundraising products and
will often pay for themselves within just a few days of starting
your sale. After that it's just pure profit.
Try out some of the most popular chocolate candies in the fundraising world.
